COVER REVEAL: 13 CANDLES!

one of the mini-buttons you can get when you back the kcickstarter campaign!

But first: a little gratitude.

When I set out to create this charity anthology over summer, I had assumed I would be doing the entire project alone (outside of the contributing authors, who have been phenomenal to work with, by the way). It would not have been the first time I published a book by myself, but it would be the first time I had done it in such a short amount of time. But I was excited! And inspired! And if I can say anything about myself with any amount of certainty, it is that inspiration and excitement have made me capable of seemingly impossible feats. I was ready to rely on those once again to take me to the end of this project.

But then, quite unexpectedly, I had two (incredible, generous) people offer to lend their skills to this project, free of charge. The first was my friend and recent grad from VCFA, Julia Heller. She offered her experience as a writer/reader/editor, and has helped me sort through submissions and edit the final picks. She’s also been invaluable in those less tangible realms of brainstorming, troubleshooting, and staying hyped, which often work better when more than one person is involved…

The second was my friend (and former roommate…ahh memories!) Laura, an insanely talented artist and illustrator of all things dark and lovely. She offered to create original artwork for the anthology: custom illustrations for each story, plus artwork for the cover. Over the last few weeks, she’s delivered gorgeous art to my inbox almost every day,  kindly dealing with my nitpicky requests for changes, and even drawing through a recent plague/cold.

In other words, I know some pretty dang generous ladies.

So here it is: Laura’s artwork, combined with my decent-to-pretty-OK photoshop skills, to bring you this cover reveal…
